The holiday shopping extravaganza!

I gave in and decided to try a holiday craft fair for selling some tutus. Actually I made all the tutus I could with the tulle I had- came to 10 total plus the one in the post below. And so I'm off to sell these labors of love in hopes they will catch some shoppers eye. I'm probably also going to make this the last big push for my hand made tutus. Bittersweet, but since I now have a part time job, tutus are taking a trunk seat in life. I will still make them as gifts for special friends and by request, but the business is a bust for now...

They really are for Everyday!

My toddler has seen me making many tutus for a holiday craft fair and asked why I'm making them. I told him they will be presents to which he asked if one could be his present. What's a mama to do? Make her son a tutut that's what! It's actually scraps of tulle and black but is quite cute. After all... tutus are for everyday... and everyone!

Tutu Tuesday!

Yes the holiday season is upon us, so I thought instead of black Friday or cyber Monday... we'd have tutu Tuesday! That means all the tutus I have left are on sale for only $15! That's a sweet price for a sweet gift. There is limited quantity so act fast. Remember these are hand made! Tutus are very popular. I have seen the Gap and Old Navy versions which are nice, but not hand made.
Also in this holiday season giving back is very important. I hope to teach my 2 year old about that. We plan to give him 3 choices of charities to donate and let him decide where a family donation will go. Lastly, if you donate extra above the $15 for your tutu it will go towards the charity iEmpathize which works to free people who are being sold into the sex trade.
Happy Holidays friends and remember... tutus are for everyday!

Tutu Cutie!

It was so fun to make this special red tutu for the delightful girl wearing it!
She is just younger than my special little tutu muse.
Hard to see but there are hand sewn rose buds on this treat of a tutu.
And here she sits with no special occasion because... tutus are for everyday!

What came first... the tutu or the chicken?!

Tutu costumes! I love them. So my baby girl had to have one. Not just the typical, princess, fairy or ballerina. Something a bit more unique and memorable. I love how it came out and how simply adorable by Baby Chicken is... because tutus are for everyday!

Tea House Tutus

Four wonderful tutus will have a new home at the Thompson Inn and Tea House in Longmont. This is a lovely victorian home where you can visit for afternoon tea or stay the night in the B&B. I wanted to do a black and orange "Halloween" tutu but was too chicken to possibly get stuck with it myself. Maybe next year. My hope is these four will be Christmas gifts to some lucky little girls... because tutus are for everyday!

Tutu on the line!

Just some tutu fun hanging around here. I have some more creations brewing in my mind that I plan to start working on soon. I'm trying to figure out ways to photograph the tutus with enough detail but so you can also tell it is a tutu!
Thanks to bmazphotography for this shot!

The first Eight!

It took 8 days to make the first 8 tutus for the shop. I'm very happy with the results. It will be exciting to see something I made in a shop near my house. Even more fun to know some little girl will get to swirl and twirl and feel really special in my creation... because tutus are for everyday!

First Shipment

Now that I have a buyer for my tutus I was able to order a whole bunch of tulle (17 rolls) of my choice. I have been able to make 1 tutu per day in preparation for them going into the shop. Every free minute is spent cutting and tying the tulle and at the end of each, I am delighted by my creation! Here is pre-tutu...

Transformation

This small pile of tulle... became this wonderful little tutu. It was made for a first birthday gift. I hope the birthday girl will enjoy wearing it everyday! If I can get her photo in it I will post that too. Happy tutu wearing everyone!

My Muse

As I stated my daughter inspired me to learn tutu making. She is everything precious. Here is her 3 week old photo shoot in the tutu made just for her! Photos by my friend E. House Photography. Doesn't your little one need photos like these... because tutus are for everyday!

Starting basic

I don't consider myself a very crafty or creative person but my love of frilly, sparkly, girly and fun is answered through a tutu. They are just sweet and so feminine. I love that. I used to change my clothes constantly as a young girl and I had the young girl dream of being a ballerina. I took many dance classes and loved ballet most because of the pink skirts and tutus I got to wear. So here I find myself 30 years later making tutus. Here are my first creations. Starting basic. The craft will grow and I look forward to sharing photos of the tutu journey. I'd love your feedback and creative suggestions. Because everyday is a tutu day!
